Memorial Day
This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. Monday is a day set aside to remember those who paid the ultimate price in defense of our freedom. We pause for a moment to be thankful for their sacrifice and service to overcome the forces of oppression and darkness. Someone has to have the courage to take a stand against evil, and often that courage comes at a very high price.
1 John 3:16 (ESV) By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.
So Christ became the model for sacrifice. He won victory through offering His life as a sacrifice for sin and then finishing the work by defeating and overcoming death. The perfect sacrifice, the ultimate eternal victory.
