I’m not sure when DIY became  a household acronym for do-it-yourself but at my house DIY is the only MO. Haha. My husband is the first one to see something everyone is impressed by and say “I can make that?“ or when something needs a repair, you know, like a washing machine or transmission in a truck or even wart removal (his finger had frostbite after that, but he saved a $20 co-pay) he says I’ll fix it for you. He’s a DIY kind of guy. He truly can build furniture, repair almost anything, and he’s a pretty good preacher too. I’d still recommend a doctor for wart removal!

People should be proud of themselves when they can take an old piece of furniture and make it look new or take a pile of T-shirts and make a quilt out of them but let’s never think that our Christian life is a DIY project. We can never draw nearer to Jesus by taking steps one through eight from a Pinterest board and we can never produce more fruit by studying all the methods of gardening or canning. Our faith doesn’t grow because we DIY’d our way to higher ground. You became a Christian, not by your own talent or goodness, but by the grace of God, only so growing will be by his grace too. Never think of the Christian life as a self improvement program or a DIY kit: it’s a relationship with Jesus and it’s only a relationship with Jesus we don’t have to prove ourselves or improve ourselves. So keep your DIY is limited to your house is kitchens in wardrobe. Your walk of faith depends on Him and not you.  Remain in him and bear much fruit. John 15:5.

I Love you too, Pastor Tina
