On Sunday Pastor Randy shared how God developed Joshua into the leader he needed to be in order to bring the Israelites where God wanted them to go.
It’s funny how God gets things done: through people.
Can you imagine being called by God to lead millions of people? How about having to take over from Moses?
Maybe the life God has called you to live seems just as intimidating.
Maybe it seems the steps in front of you are too big and too hard.
Maybe you think you’re not as equipped or as gifted as someone else.
“After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites.” Joshua 1:1-2 NIV
So God says to Joshua (my paraphrase): “I know you’re not Moses, because he’s dead! Now I want YOU to get ready. I’ve called YOU to take hold of what I want to give YOU.”
God is not expecting you to be someone else. God is not expecting you to be gifted with what others have been gifted with. Like Joshua, our call is to carry out the gifts and purposes He has chosen for our life and our time. You weren’t made to be a knock off of someone else. You’re you, the one God formed with His hands!
If you don’t feel like you are ready, God wants to make you ready. He actually already has been making you ready through the story of your life.
Lean into it. Let Him ready you!
Expect to learn: study His Word and take notes.
Expect to hear His voice: seek His presence in prayer.
Expect to be used by Him: position yourself to serve others.
Expect Him to give you something: open up your hands.
Expect Him to show up: step out in faith.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NIV
Be strong and courageous!
