1 Samuel 16:1 (NASB95) Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons.”
God knew all along that it was David, the runt of the litter, that he was going to have Samuel anoint, so why didn’t he explicitly tell him it was to be David? God says to Abraham to go to the land that He would show him. I think, amazingly, it is because God likes to be in relationship with us and walk with us moment by moment in the decisions and questions and random stuff of our lives.
Mark 3:14 (NASB95) And He appointed twelve, so that they would be with Him and that He could send them out to preach,
Jesus appointed the twelve to be with Him. God is relational, He has never done anything alone, always in the relationship of the trinity. So just wrap your head, or your thoughts, around this, God wants to be in relationship with you. Yes, that God who spoke the worlds into existence wants to share in your prayers and decisions and wanderings. Pretty amazing, right?
I like being around you too,
